Gems &Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) conducted a weeklong Yoga workshop at the Seepz Lake Side with an aim to promote International Yoga Day. The workshop inaugurated on 21st June and will go on for four days which will be conducted by Isha Yoga Foundation. More than 1500 people from Gems & Jewellery industry participated. As 21st June is declared as International Yoga Day last year by Honorable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in alliance with the United Nations to promote the importance of Yoga it is since then being renowned as a day of harmony and peace all over the world.
Yoga not only helps in physical wellness but also rejuvenate deepest level of self-including mind and consciousness. “Yuj” is the Sanskrit word from where the word Yoga is derived. Yuj means to integrate or to unite physical body and the spirit. It mentions the, spiritual, physical, mental disciplines or practices that help in transforming mind and body. Relieving practices of yoga reduces the stress and helps in improving flexibility and strength. Moreover it benefits in harmonizing inner self and bringing forth peace. The purpose of GJSCI in organizing the workshop is to help members of the Gems and Jewellery industry in understanding this and embracing Yoga as a part of their everyday regime.
‘Yoga is a priceless gift our ancestors have given us. This practice is over 5000 years old. Thanks to our prime minister for reinstating its importance in our everyday lives. Our workshop is a small step towards the same. Let us all thus work in the direction of accepting an International Yoga Day,’ said Mr Binit Bhatt, C.O.O, GJSCI at the event.
