Rahul Gandhi addressed a mass rally in Zaveri Bazar, Mumbai on April 12. Accompanied with Ashok Chavan, Milind Deora, Sanjay Nirupam & Yogesh Singhal. Rahul said, 'this is not the Excise , it is an assassination attempt from the government because government thinks jewellers has no money power & strength to fight!' He assured jewellers that he would remain with jewellery industry.
Before the address of Rahul Gandhi, Congress leaders had been convinced the audience that Rahul had played a key role while Excise was imposed in the past 2005 & 2012. Rahul Gandhi said he would present the jewellers issue in the house, which is being scheduled from April 24.
Fatechand Ranka, President-Maharashtra Rajya Sarafa Federation had ended the strike in Maharashtra & told to hold untill 24 of April till the further feedback from government. Amid confusion, jewellers fraternity was wondering about organisers, who arrange the address of Rahul Gandhi in Zaveri Bazar? Because the market has about 20 associations & no one had been supported. No name of any group & association from Zaveri Bazar was mentioned in the gathering!
On the other hand Yogesh Singhal, General Secretary of All India Bullion, Jewellers and Swarnkar Federation (AIBJSF) addressed the audience & appealed, not to end up the protest & strike, he insisted to pull the strike untill April 24 till the Lok Sabha session get started! Commenting jibe for Fatechand Ranka, President of Maharashtra Rajya Saraf Suvarnakar Federation & GJF he said they deceives jewellers! His AIBJS supports jewellers to extend strike!
De facto Rahul & company had nothing constructive say how they can convince the union government to roll back 1% of excise duty!
